Set against accelerating sea-level rise, this thesis develops future urban adaptation strategies for Tuvalu — a real nation confronting the prospect of territorial loss. Using shape grammar as a generative design method, the project tests how settlement patterns might be systematically transformed to meet the demands of future cities, treating climate adaptation not as a single solution but as an evolving rule-based process. A student project, Wenyu Sun’s, developed in thesis under the instructor's guidance received the National First Prize at the 13th Future Designer National College Art & Design Competition (National Finals).
